The wool combs are entirely handmade in small batches--even the tines are cut to length and ground to points by hand--so what is available at any given time will vary. My Dad, Emile (Emmy) Nolet, makes the combs, diz and threaders that I sell. He has been a woodworker for over 35 years and still manages to wow me with his work :-) Combs are stamped with "EMMY" and the date finished.

Combs and accessories are designed by both of us. Design sessions usually happen at the coffee shop in a local mall. We do our best to combine our talents to create products with the best possible blend of durability and functionality.

Our introductory package comes complete with:

Pack flat combs have removable handles for easy storage & portability. A dovetail joint provides a secure fit between head & handle when assembled. They have been designed with flat handles so that they can be easily clamped to a table for those times you need an extra hand. Flat handles eliminate the need for a table clamp--any C-style clamp will do--and reduce slippage both when clamped and when used in the hand giving better control.

They are 2 pitch (double row) combs and the comb heads are 3 1/2" wide with 4" long stainless steel tines. Each comb weighs approximately 6 oz. When packed flat the set is only 10" long, 6 1/2" wide, 2" thick, and weighs 1 1/4 lb, or less than a pound if you leave the clamp at home!

Handheld Combs

These combs have been designed primarily for handheld use and portability. We've tried to strike a balance between being as lightweight as possible and still being able to process a good amount of fibre at a time. They have been designed with flat handles so that they can be easily clamped to a table for those times you need an extra hand. Flat handles eliminate the need for a table clamp--any C-style clamp will do--and reduce slippage both when clamped and when used in the hand giving better control.

All Handheld Wool Combs come with pine press-fit tine protectors as shown in the bottom picture and a 2" clamp.

4 1/4" long tines by 3 5/8" wide. Tines are 3/32" thick stainless steel set at a fine spacing of just over 3/16" centers. Comb handles are through mortised for a strong joint and are just over 4" long.

Each comb weighs approximately 8 oz.

3" long tines x 3" wide, tines are 5/64" thick stainless steel set at a fine spacing of 3/16" centers. Comb handles are through mortised for a strong joint and are 4" long.
