Spindlitis Challenge

This is the new Louviere pochade box I bought for plein air oil painting (canvas, paint & brushes are mine, not included). This definitely at the top of the list for best online purchases--excellent quality product, good price, and outstanding customer service:

Blue roving being spun on Midi spindle

I got this Bosworth Midi spindle in a trade and the roving from Dad for Christmas. I'm spinning it up and navajo plying as I go to make socks. I have the socks started but no pics yet.

I also got a 2" Weave-It for Christmas and it makes a great project for on the bus. Here are some of the squares I've made. I'm going to make a 'memory blanket' from the scraps of my other projects. This picture was taken just after I started sewing together the pinks and purple from my niece's sweater (below). I made a larger square from 16 small ones and have just started on the colours from my other niece's sweater.

Two opposites :-)

The wheel Dad made for me on the left (top pic). A very modern style wheel built specifically for versatility--double or single drive, folds, a dozen ratios, and 2-part flyer assembly for easier bobbin changes.

On the right (top pic), a lovely little wheel I got for Christmas. Traditional style double drive, built to do one thing and do it very well. The bottom picture shows some Shetland thel that I've spun up on it.

Australian Polwarth I'm spinning for a cardigan for Dad.

Sweaters I made for my nieces for Christmas--okay, they are a bit late :-) The purple one is actually a nice bright purple but my camera wouldn't cooperate on the colour today.

December 2003

My first weaving project. A scarf from some 3-ply Shetland wool that I spun on my wheel. I'm working on some mitts to match.

Fall 2003

Hand-dyed, spun, & knit 'shawl' that I made for Dad for a small half-circular table he has.

Summer 2003

The first wool I spun on the wheel Dad made for me. Cabled yarn (3-2ply) over-dyed with kool-aid. I love the colour :-)
